Test Retake Policy

I have been getting several questions about my retake policy in regards to test.  The policy was spelled out in the welcome letter I sent home on the first day of school.  However, as a refresher, I thought I would discuss it again.  The GHS LOTE Department (Languages Other Than English) has a retake policy in place that all LOTE teachers use.  Once per grading period, a student may retake one test for a maximum grade of a 70.  Before the student will be allowed to retake the test, they are required to come in for one tutoring session.  Additionally, a student may take a late grade of a 70 on one homework grader per grading period.  Please email me if you have any further questions!

I updated the calendars...again!

Updated calendars for each class has been posted in their Google Classroom.  Any time I change the date on something, it is automatically updated in the Google Calendar.  While I will still be announcing tests and quizzes in class, reminding students of tests and quizzes as they approach, and using Remind as much as possible, it is the student's responsibility to make sure they look at the calendar on a frequent basis.  If you have any questions, please let me know!

Supplies You'll Need

Here are some supplies you'll need for this year in Latin.

  • Pens and pencils; please get at least one red or purple pen for grading; you will also need a highlighter.
  • Paper or a spiral.
  • Folder or notebook to hold notes and work.
  • Latin dictionary for home.  While there are some online dictionaries available for use, they do not always provide the best definition or even give the definitions of common phrases.
  • 4 packs of 100 3x5 notecards.
  • One box of Kleenex.
  • Ear buds for classroom use.
Here are some links to a few of my favorite dictionaries:
