A Few Reminders.....

As we get into the new semester, I thought a few reminders were in order:

  • Please remind your students that phone usage during class is not permitted unless we are doing an activity that requires that electronic device.  This is a long semester and I need their attention as much as possible.
  • Student absences are inevitable.  I ask that students who miss a test or a quiz make that assignment up within one week of their return.  The main reason I need this is because grades are due for progress reports or report cards every three weeks--in fact, the first progress report card date is this Friday, Jan. 24th.  While there are extenuating circumstances, I am required by the district and UIL to get grades in by a certain point.  That means that grades not completed by that date will become zeroes, including tests and quizzes.
  • Only one late daily grade per nine weeks is permitted.  This is the LOTE (Languages Other than English) policy.  The late assignment will only be taken one class period late and for a maximum grade of a 70.  There are times that I do not allow late work and I tell the students that when I pass it out.
  • The last items are regarding security.  Students must wear their ID with their photo at all times.  This is not only a campus expectation but a district one.  Also, my door will be locked at all times; this is a district and campus expectation as well.  My goal is to keep your child and myself safe throughout the time they are with me.  Please help me with these goals.

End of the First Grading Period--U. S. History PAP

The end of the first grading period is Friday October 18, 2019 at 4 PM.  If your student has any missing assignment, they have until Thursday October 17, 2019 at 4:15 PM to turn it in as I will need time to grade anything turned in for the next day's deadline.  This is a UIL rule and I must comply.

Additionally, from this point forward, due to UIL rules, I will not be able to take something late after a grading period closes.  Grading periods close every three weeks.

End of the First Grading Period--Latin Classes

The end of the first grading period is Friday October 18, 2019 at 4 PM.  Due to UIL rules, my grades are due at that time.  Anything not made up or turned in to me by Thursday October 17, 2019 at 4:10 PM will not be taken as I will need time to grade anything that is turned in or re-done before the next day.  Please check Skyward as most grades are up to date.

Additionally, due to UIL rules, I will no longer be able to allow re-takes or late work after a grading period has closed.  Grading periods are every three weeks, so, once that grading period closes, students will no longer be able to turn in late work or re-take a test or quiz from that three week time frame.  The only exceptions will be for when a student is absent.

Latin Club

If you would like to join Latin Club, you should bring $10 to Mrs. McConathy for your dues for the 2019-2020 school year.  The dues pay for your admission into two Latin organizations:  the Texas State Junior Classical League and the National Junior Classical League.

Supplies for Mrs. McConathy's US History PAP Class

These are the supplies that you will need for Mrs. McConathy's US History PAP Class for the 2019-2020 school year:
one college ruled composition notebook.
folder and loose leaf paper
pencils, pens (please do not write in red ink), one in a color you can use to correct things.
highlighter(s)
glue sticks--we will need lots for our interactive notebooks.
one box of Kleenex.

We may go through quite a few things this year.  If you are so inclined, I would love donations to the room of pencils, pens, highlighters, and glue sticks.
